EMU Spotlight Session on Effective Advocacy for Music and Art Schools

We are delighted to announce the upcoming EMU Spotlight Session on Effective Advocacy for Music and Art Schools, a 90-minute online event dedicated to exploring powerful strategies for promoting the value of music and arts education.

This interactive event will bring together inspiring voices from across Europe to share their experiences and success stories.

Spotlight on Luxembourg
The Luxembourgish Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Mr Claude Meisch, will give a video speech presenting his country’s approach to music education. Luxembourg has recently abolished all tuition fees in music schools, a milestone achievement made possible through persistent and effective advocacy. Following the speech, Gilles Lacour from the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth will join us to discuss the reasoning behind this decision and answer questions.

Spotlight on the Czech Republic
We are equally honoured to welcome Irena Pohl Houkalová, Director of the Magdalena Kožená Foundation. Founded in 2016 by the world-renowned opera singer Magdalena Kožená, the foundation champions Czech music and art schools as a cornerstone of modern artistic education. It works to enhance their prestige, nurture young artistic talent, and support innovative music school initiatives and projects.

This event promises to be a source of inspiration and practical insight for anyone dedicated to advancing the cause of music and arts education – on the local, national or European level! It is open to all and attendance is free of charge.
