Webinar on Digitisation in Music Education, 30 April & 1 May

The working group on Teacher Education in the Digital Age of the EU-funded project Strengthening Music in Society (SMS) project is hosting an online webinar on “Digitisation in music education”. This working group is a joint initiative by the Association Européene des Conservatoires (AEC), the European Association of Music in Schools (EAS) and the European Music School Union (EMU), established in the frame of the SMS project, representing the full range of institutionalised music education at the European level. It consists of 7 experts from various European countries with backgrounds in, among others, music pedagogy and teachers education, computer science, music technology and empirical musicology. The working group is coordinated by the EMU.

The webinar is free of charge and will take place online via Zoom on April 30 from 14.00 to 17.00 CET and May 1 from 9.00 to 12.00 CET. Please note that the webinar will be recorded and made available afterwards on the website of the EMU.

Through a series of workshops and interactive lectures, this webinar will shed light on the meaningful integration of digital tools in music education, give the opportunity to engage in hands-on experience with digital tools and methods, and inspire a more creative use of digital learning tools for music learning and teaching. By providing a platform for critical reflection and exchange on the experiences music teachers have made in the past year, the working group wishes to promote a mindset for digitisation in music education that is “inspired by technology and driven by pedagogy” (as promoted by the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovations). Please find more information on the programme and the speakers here.
