3rd European Music School Symposium on 6–7 October 2023

For the third time, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna together with its two collaboration partners KOMU and EMU are organising the European Music School Symposium in Vienna. The programme includes two distinguished keynote speakers, Catherine Grant from Australia and Ortwin Renn from Germany, and inspiring presentations from 20 European countries, which include scientific findings as well as exciting project presentations. This time the symposium will take place hybrid for the first time, so participation is possible both on site at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and online.

More than 40 presentations await you, raising important questions about sustainable collaborations with schools, local musical heritage and traditional instruments, sustainable musicianship skills, motivation and dropout rates, role models for environmental solutions, sustainable teaching and learning, policy issues and many more. The traditional KOMU music school concert on the evening of 6 October and the closing dinner on 7 October give sufficient time to broaden and deepen European exchanges.
